Gel-type Temperature-Resistant Anionic Resin for Water Treatment in Olefin Indirect-Hydration Reaction

T-315 anion-exchange resin is specialized in removing sulfate(or chloride) from the residual liquids during the olefin hydration reactions to produce ethanol, in order to clarify impurities and refine the purity of the product ethanol.

Throughout the traditional indirect reaction process of olefin hydration, the ethylene is first mixed with sulfuric acid to form alkyl sulfate esters, followed by further hydrolysis to regenerate sulfuric acid and release ethanol(as illustrated below):
C2H4 + H2SO4 -> C2H5 -O-SO3H
C2H5 -O-SO3H + H2O -> H2SO+ C2H5OH

Within the cycled operating reactors, the weak-base functional groups of T315 resin plays the role of adsorbing sulfate by replacing its hydroxyls(OH) from its free-amines into the resultant liquids for product purification purpose, meanwhile the PH of the strong-acid liquids is hereby neutralized. Moreover, in case of acid leakage at overall cyclic operating process, the acid radicals that T315 adsorbed can be eluted by being after-treated with alkali to restore the free base functions of T315 and also regenerate sulfate to initiate a primary olefin hydration on the go.
